To all my friends who ride on the same rainbow

I was called to write this post after reading one of the comment in Saiful Islam which I found pretty clear to layout the current situation. There are a number of vehicles out there which goes to different route which bring us to the same final destination. So, to all my friends who hop on together on this same vehicle, this post is for you.

Make the best out of everything

Quarreling and endless debate will never get us anywhere. Focus on our strength and knowledge on something that we can contribute towards our goal. Be it in psychology, accountancy, technology, medicine or whatever interests you but when we pursue something, we do them by heart and we should be the best in what we do.

Encourage ourselves to learn broader scope of knowledge. We learn things from the experts who are in the field regardless their religion and culture. We don’t need everyone to be the “driver” of this vehicle but we are the one who make sure the vehicle run properly and smoothly in any way we can contribute. Being said that, I still believe that we altogether must hold on tightly to the principles of Islam in whatever we do.

When ignorance is bliss

Sometimes it is easier to ignore things that some people do to provoke us. It is better left not knowing that someone is stabbing you from the back while pretending everything is fine and dandy on a superficial level. Anyway, emotions can be difficult to control especially when it goes back to a long and bitter history. Nonetheless, hatred can be such a waste of time thus ignore all the provocation, degrading comments, false allegations made by others and do not let these deviate us from our main purpose. We do not need to prove anything to anyone; however we must always strive to become the best and versatile vehicle out there.

Whatever you do, start with Al-Fahmu

We need to understand before diving into almost anything. We do not need followers but seriously in need of thinkers. Therefore it is crucial when we are doing something; they must be backed by knowledge, principal and integrity. Do not take things for granted especially when it come from someone you know. When you are not sure of anything, seek the answer and don’t just take others words blindly.

Failure to evolve is failure to us all

How do we make sure that our vehicle can go smoothly on any terrains? We need to know what kind of terrain are we going to drive on and evolving the vehicle to fit with the appropriate terrain. Because the terrains keep on changing with time, we must be ready to evolve in terms of our approach to keep up with the pace.

You have to be culturally attuned with the people you’re trying to sell. One of the ways to do that is to absorb the culture and trends and what’s going on. It’s not just magazines, but also television programs. Sometimes I watch television programs I normally wouldn’t watch – like Road Rules, The Sopranos, or Six Feet Under – because those shows are important to people today and that’s what they’re watching.

Joe Grimaldi, CEO from Mullen Advertising wrote in Inside the Minds: The Art of Advertising who owned the 22nd largest advertising agency in the United States stated that there is in need to keep attuned with the people so that we can try to fit in their shoes.

Let’s say you are a heavy smoker, who smokes 20 cigarette packs per day for 20 years and we ask two people to give you an advice to stop smoking. One of the guys is an ex-smoker and another guy has neither experience nor knowledge with smokers. I am confident that the guys who are ex-smokers will present with more practical advices compared to the one who does not smoke before because he understands how difficult it is to beat the addiction.

The same principle goes to when we approach on how to solve social problems. The approach should evolve depending on the audience’s background. We have to be aware of the situation and mingle with the real people to understand their difficulties and problem before we can plan on the best way to help them.

Final words: Keep your focus

When we do things, always look from the bigger picture and remember that this world does not revolve around this tiny town. So always keep on our focus and strive for the best.
