Where are we heading?

Most of us will come to a point in our life when we asked ourselves one of the most difficult philosophical questions, "What is the purpose of this life?” This perplexing question resulted in assorted answers which can be different from one person to another. To make things a bit more complicated, the answer to this ultimate question itself holds the map to the place we are heading to. Therefore to answer the first question, we must first establish the role of our existence in this temporary world.

Let’s look into the different views pertaining to this question. In atheism, the ideology deliberately rejected the existence of God. No God means there are no rules but unfortunately this also means there is no guidance. Atheism place the human mind on the top of the chain of command thus each individual are left to decide on their own what is the meaning of their life. Many people out there let their desire (Nafs) to lead their life while some other relies on their theistic beliefs.

I would like to pass this question to my Muslim brothers and sisters out there, where are we heading now? Should there be any doubt in our heart although the pathway towards our true purpose of this life has been clearly defined by our Al-Mighty God and His Messenger (pbuh)? Are we taking only a temporary detour before we getting back to the righteous path? Remember my friend, Allah s.w.t mentioned in the Holy Quran:

It is sad to see our Muslim brothers and sisters who put power, fame and material as their main target in this life while leaving the most important aspect of the life of a Muslim, which is to worship our God, to defend Islam and to perform da'wah. I would like to use this opportunity to advise myself, my wife, my family, my brothers and sisters to take heed on where we are heading now and take the appropriate actions so that we stay on the path of Islam until the day we die. Ameen.
