A Gentle Reminder for Myself

I just watched one documentary by BBC about America’s Most Hated Family. This story revolves around a family who indoctrinate one of the sect minister in Christianity who hold a belief which I found interesting. They seems like holding firmly to the essence of the teaching of Christianity although their approach is seemingly intrusive and harsh in the eye of the American public. They held the belief that the people in US doomed because participating in the war in Iraq and God condemned those US army who died in the war in Iraq because they did not believe with the War in Iraq. So they condemning the soldiers who died by picketing at the funeral of the soldiers who died in Iraq. Read More

I felt goosebumps on my arms and neck when I first listen this little boy reciting this Quranic verse. I just cannot resist myself to embed the video in my blog post. Masha Allah, I wish I'll have a son who can recite the Quran just as good as him. Insha Allah.

Cheap Stunt and Death Threats

Cheap Stunt and Death Threats Lars Vilks, a condemned Swedish cartoonist sketched the beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) with a body of a dog is just another pathetic attempt by someone who confused pure insult from free speech act. His sketch was published in the The Swedish newspaper, Nerikes Allehanda on the 18th of August 2007. Despite the death threats they received, the cartoonist and the newspaper agency refuse to apologize for their foolish stunt. It seems that they just don't learn from the previous mistakes by the Danish newspaper with regards to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) caricature which ignite deadly protests last year.

Where are we heading?

Where are we heading Most of us will come to a point in our life when we asked ourselves one of the most difficult philosophical questions, "What is the purpose of this life?” This perplexing question resulted in assorted answers which can be different from one person to another. To make things a bit more complicated, the answer to this ultimate question itself holds the map to the place we are heading to. Therefore to answer the first question, we must first establish the role of our existence in this temporary world.

Let’s look into the different views pertaining to this question. In atheism, the ideology deliberately rejected the existence of God. No God means there are no rules but unfortunately this also means there is no guidance. Atheism place the human mind on the top of the chain of command thus each individual are left to decide on their own what is the meaning of their life. Many people out there let their desire (Nafs) to lead their life while some other relies on their theistic beliefs.

I would like to pass this question to my Muslim brothers and sisters out there, where are we heading now? Should there be any doubt in our heart although the pathway towards our true purpose of this life has been clearly defined by our Al-Mighty God and His Messenger (pbuh)? Are we taking only a temporary detour before we getting back to the righteous path? Remember my friend, Allah s.w.t mentioned in the Holy Quran:

If any do wish for the transitory things (of this life), We readily grant them - such things as We will, to such person as We will: in the end have We provided Hell for them: they will burn therein, disgraced and rejected.

Al-Qur'an, 017.018 (Al-Isra [Isra, The Night Journey, Children of Israel])

It is sad to see our Muslim brothers and sisters who put power, fame and material as their main target in this life while leaving the most important aspect of the life of a Muslim, which is to worship our God, to defend Islam and to perform da'wah. I would like to use this opportunity to advise myself, my wife, my family, my brothers and sisters to take heed on where we are heading now and take the appropriate actions so that we stay on the path of Islam until the day we die. Ameen.

In reference to the arguments made by readers in RPK article entitled 'Does an Islamic State really exist?', One of the commenter stated that married person who commit adultery (fornication) punishment is 50 lashes and not 100 lashes. He also challenges other readers to come out with the verse about the punishment of stoned to death (Rajam) in the Quran for married person who commit adultery. I have quoted below the exact comment made by the reader:

You lie here. Show me in Quran, where married persons who have illegal sex are to be stoned to death? I dare you to show me the reference verse. In Quran, a married persons punishment is half of 100, and that is 50 lashes lah. Jangan tipu Ahmad Chen.

I seek refuge with Allah from the Shaitaan the rejected. Brother and sister, please correct me if I'm wrong in any of my explanation as I am still learning. It is best for me to include my resources which are:
1. Al-Quran Translation in English by Abdullah Yusuf Yusuf Ali
2. Abridged Tafsir Ibn Kathir from Darussalam Publication
3. Hadeeth Sahih Bukhari (translated by M. Muhsin Khan)

Al-Quran clearly state that the punishment for adultery is 100 stripes for person commits Zina
